FAQs

Any resident of Salem City over the age of 8 is eligible for a library card. Please bring photo ID and verification of your address. Those between the ages of 8-17 must have a legal parent/guardian accompany to set up an account.

Non-residents (one household account) can get a library card for a small fee of $25.00 per year.

Simply look for “Library-Patron” and connect. No password needed — just agree to the terms of service. Our WiFi is open 24/7 and has a very broad reach.

eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and more are always available through the Libby app (Overdrive) with your library card. There are over 100,000 titles available!

Yes. Please fill out and return a volunteer application to a Volunteer Coordinator. We will work with you on a schedule (generally 1-2 hours per week). All court-ordered community service requests will be referred to the Salem City Recreation Department. The library reserves the right to deny requests or approve only under special conditions.
